Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
We received a message from the questioner, your brother Abu Muhammad, who says: O His Eminence the Shaykh! Is it permissible to praise the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) with poetry like this and recite it in gatherings:
O most noble of creation, to whom shall I take refuge
You are, when the general calamity occurs
For from Your generosity is the world and its counterpart
And from Your knowledge is the knowledge of the Tablet and the Pen
Answer:
These are denounceable verses, they are shirk (associating partners with Allah). These are from the verses of al-Burdah by al-Busiri. They are not permissible; rather, this is major shirk, we seek refuge in Allah. For the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) does not possess the world and its counterpart, the Hereafter. This is from the generosity of the Lord, Exalted and Majestic, from the dominion of the Lord, Exalted and Majestic. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) does not possess it and does not know what is in the Preserved Tablet and the Pen, peace and blessings be upon him. He does not know the unseen, peace and blessings be upon him. And likewise his saying:
I have no one to take refuge in besides You when...
This means making him the one to take refuge in and the place of safety. This is major shirk, I seek refuge in Allah.
If you are not among my enemies, taking my hand
Please...
Meaning: on the Day of Resurrection. It means that he is the one who protects from the Fire. This is major shirk, I seek refuge in Allah. The one who protects from the Fire is Allah alone. However, following the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is among the causes of safety. Following the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is among the causes of safety from the Fire. As for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he does not possess the world and the Hereafter, nor does he protect from the Fire. Rather, he is a commanded servant, peace and blessings be upon him. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you.
