The issue of the preference for reciting the Qur'an silently or aloud

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
This questioner says: Your Eminence, what is your opinion of one who holds the noble Mushaf and recites silently? Which is better: silent recitation or loud recitation?

Answer:
Silent recitation is better if it makes his heart more humble, but if loud recitation makes his heart more humble, there is no harm in reciting aloud. Otherwise, it is reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
One who recites the Qur'an in a loud voice is like one who gives alms openly; and one who recites the Qur'an quietly is one who gives alms secretly.الجاهر بالقرآن كالجاهر بالصدقة، والمسر بالقرآن كالمسر بالصدقة
Sunan Abi Dawud 1333Sahih (Al-Albani)
And it is known that the one who gives charity in secret is better. However, if people can hear him and it is hoped that someone will benefit from his recitation, it is recommended for him to recite aloud so that he benefits the attendees and is of use to them, with reflection, understanding, and without haste.
