What is the reality of "al-Hadathah" and what is the ruling of Islam regarding it?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
There has been much talk recently about al-Hadathah. We ask you, Your Eminence, to clarify its reality, the ruling of Islam regarding it, and the ruling on one who promotes it while knowing its reality.

Answer:
Al-Hadathah is a new etiquette that is obvious to one who reflects upon it, but hidden from one who does not reflect upon it. What we have learned of their condition and read about them is that they are a group who conceal their atheism and their inner beliefs in complex, unclear phrases and poetry. They use new terms that are not in the Arabic manner or Arabic style, intending by them obscure meanings. Their goal, as appears from them, is to reject Islam and the Islamic Shari'ah, and to reject and oppose everything old. They want to promote new things from the West and the East, and for the ummah (the Muslim community) to be at the height of freedom, so that it may do whatever it wants of all corruption and evil, having no leader and no restrictions, but doing whatever it pleases and rejecting whatever it pleases.
So in what has appeared of their speech, they reject everything that is called "old." It is known that the Shari'ah is old, and that fourteen centuries have now passed over it. So they fight it, but they conceal themselves with unclear phrases, and perhaps they state and clarify it at times. And whoever reflects upon their writings and reads their articles, that becomes clear to him.
Our brother, the shaykh (scholar or teacher) Awadh ibn Muhammad al-Qarni, has authored a treatise on that, in which he mentioned much of their words. I have looked over most of it—most of the book—and written on it what was possible.
So my advice to the people of al-Hadathah is that they fear Allah, and that they return to the religion of Allah, and that they speak in clear Arabic if they want good, and that they display the truth, guidance, and correctness, and that they stay away from opposing Islam and its people, and that they be open: either with their atheism until they are killed, or expelled from the land, or with their repentance to Allah, so that the Muslims will love them, and so that they will help them in good.
And my advice to the people of knowledge is that they follow their articles and writings, and that they expose them in that, so that they return to correctness, and so that they return to their sanity, and we ask Allah to grant them guidance.
