What is the advice regarding the negligence in letting the garment hang below the ankles and the beard?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
I love you for the sake of Allah. Many people are negligent regarding the Sunnah: such as shaving the beard and lengthening the garments. We seek guidance. May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
First: May Allah love you as you have loved us for His sake. Loving one another for the sake of Allah is among the best of the means of nearness to Him, indeed it is among the obligatory duties. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said in the authentic hadith:
Seven will be shaded by Allah in His shade on a day when there is no shade except His: a just ruler, a young man who grew up in the worship of Allah, a man whose heart is attached to the mosques, two men who loved one another for the sake of Allah, they met for that and parted for it, and a man whom a woman of status and beauty invited, and he said: "I fear Allah"سبعة يُظلهم الله في ظلِّه يوم لا ظلَّ إلا ظله: إمام عادل، وشابٌّ نشأ في عبادة الله، ورجلٌ قلبه مُعلَّقٌ بالمساجد، ورجلان تحابَّا في الله، اجتمعا على ذلك، وتفرَّقا عليه، ورجلٌ دعته امرأةٌ ذات منصبٍ وجمالٍ فقال: إني أخاف الله
And similarly, a woman was invited by a man of status and beauty, and she said: "I fear Allah." The sixth:
a person who practices charity so secretly that his left hand does not know what his right hand has givenرجلٌ تصدَّق بصدقةٍ فأخفاها، حتى لا تعلم شمالُه ما تُنْفِق يمينه
Sahih al-Bukhari 1423
, and the seventh:
A man who remembered Allah in seclusion – meaning: no one was with him – so his eyes overflowed
weeping out of fear of Allah (Mighty and Majestic).
And he also said (peace and blessings be upon him):
Allah would say on the Day of Resurrection: Where are those who have mutual love for My Glory's sake? Today I shall shelter them in My shadow when there is no other shadow but the shadow of Mine.
Sahih Muslim 2566
. Loving one another for the sake of Allah necessitates cooperation in righteousness and piety, and it necessitates mutual advice, enjoining good and forbidding evil. This is how those who love one another for the sake of Allah are.
As for what concerns letting the beards grow and letting the garments hang below the ankles: these are obligatory matters, not merely a recommended practice in the terminology of those who hold that the doer of the Sunnah is rewarded and the one who leaves it is not punished. Rather, letting the beard grow is from the obligatory duties, and removing it is from the forbidden things, and letting the garment hang below the ankles is from the forbidden things. It is not permissible for the believer to shave his beard or cut it; rather, it is obligatory to let it grow, honor it, and preserve it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Cut the mustaches, let the beards grow, and differ from the polytheists
. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Cut the mustaches, preserve the beards, and differ from the polytheists
. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Trim closely the moustache, and grow beard, and thus act against the fire-worshippers.
Sahih Muslim 260
. So it is obligatory to let it grow, honor it, and let it hang down. If people cut it, do not be with the people; be with the truth, even if you are alone. If the people of a village or tribe have cut or shaved it, do not be with them. Adhere to the truth even if you are alone.
And so is dragging the clothes. The limit of the garment for a man is the ankles, so what is below the ankles must be left, and it is forbidden to do it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whatever of the Izar comes below the ankles is in the Fire.
Sunan an-Nasa'i 5331Sahih (Darussalam)
narrated by al-Bukhari in "al-Sahih". And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Beware of letting the garment hang below the ankles, for it is from the characteristics of arrogance
. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
There are three to whom Allah will not speak and at whom He will not look on the Day of Resurrection, and whom He will not declare pure, and they will have a painful punishment.
Sunan Abi Dawud 4087Sahih (Al-Albani)
narrated by Muslim. And that is only because letting the garment hang below the ankles gives an indication of arrogance and pride, along with what is in it of extravagance and ruining the clothes with dirt and impurities.
And whoever claims that it is permissible if it is not out of arrogance; he has erred. The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) prohibited it and generalized it, and he threatened regarding it, and he made letting the garment hang below the ankles from the characteristics of arrogance. Then, hearts are known only to Allah. Whoever lets his garment hang below the ankles has displayed the outward appearance of arrogance; so it is obligatory to prevent him and disapprove of him.
As for what came in the hadith of Ibn 'Umar: that the Companion (may Allah be pleased with him) when he heard his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
Whoever arrogantly drags his garment, Allah will not look at him on the Day of Judgement.
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1731Sahih (Darussalam)
, said: "O Messenger of Allah, my lower garment hangs down unless I hold it up." So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him:
You are not among those who do it out of arrogance
. This is a testimony from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to the Companion that he does not do it out of arrogance, but rather his lower garment may hang down without his intention, so he holds it up. As for these people, they let it hang down intentionally and do not hold it up. And who knows their hearts except Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) ? Their outward appearance is letting the garment hang below the ankles, arrogance, and pride, even if they claim otherwise.
Then, they have displayed opposition to the Shari'ah of Allah, and to what Allah has prohibited. So it is obligatory for them to leave that, and to disapprove of them. As for the woman, she has permission to let her garments hang down. It is prescribed for her to let her garments hang down because it is an 'awrah (part of the body that must be covered) that covers her feet.
