Question:
The first message in this episode was sent to the program from the Republic of Sudan, and its sender is one of the brothers. He says: Your son, 'Umar Mulwan—apparently—our brother. His message is lengthy, and he wrote it in his Sudanese colloquial dialect. I understood from it, O Shaykh, that his mother is not a Muslim, and he asks about being dutiful to her after her death. How do you advise him, O Shaykh?
Answer:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send blessings and peace upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance. As for what follows:
Since she has passed away, there is nothing that reaches her after death; because a disbeliever is not reached by anything after death. As long as she died upon the religion of Christianity or polytheism, do not supplicate against her, and do not supplicate for her, and nothing from you reaches her, neither charity, nor seeking forgiveness, nor anything else. This is only in the case of a Muslim deceased:Riyad as-Salihin 1383 But if you know that she died upon Christianity, Judaism, or polytheism and the worship of graves, then nothing from you reaches her. Do not supplicate for her, and do not give charity on her behalf. And to Allah we belong and to Him we return. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.

When a man dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things: Sadaqah Jariyah (ceaseless charity); a knowledge which is beneficial, or a virtuous descendant who prays for him (for the deceased).
