Ruling on removing children from the rows in prayer
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
He says: Many people, when they arrive at the prayer in the mosque and it is already being performed, find children praying, some of them under seven years old and some over seven. They move them to the end of the row and take their places. If they are at the end of the row, they push them back to the next row, which causes their prayer to be interrupted. Is there any ruling regarding this action?
And what is obligatory for us when we witness such a thing? And is it permissible to move those who are under seven years old from their row to the next row?
Direct us, may Allah reward you with good.
Answer:
As for the one who has reached the age of seven, it is prescribed to leave him in his place, and it is not permissible to move him back; because if he arrived first and no Muslim arrived before him, he has more right to his place. Also, leaving him there encourages him to be diligent and hasten to do good, so he should not be moved back.
As for the one who is under seven, this is a matter requiring consideration. If he is left in his place, there is no harm, so that no harm comes to him if he is moved, and so that he does not play around or go to another place that might harm him. Therefore, leaving him in his place is better and safer, so that no harm occurs, or so that he does not play around in a way that harms someone else by disturbing them when he is moved. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good. So, there is special consideration for children in the mosques, Your Eminence.
The Shaykh: Yes, yes, consideration so that no evil befalls them if they are moved during the prayer. They might go to places that harm them, or they might play around in a way that harms them and others. Also, leaving them in the row trains them to come and be eager for prayer; so that when they reach the age of seven, they will already be trained. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah bless you, and may He reward you with good. If the child turns around while in the row, or moves in a way that might be excessive, what is the guidance, Your Eminence?
The Shaykh: They should signal to him.
The presenter: Calmly.
The Shaykh: Until he calms down. Yes, by signaling. As long as he is in prayer, by signaling. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good. So, Your Eminence: Who calls for taking children to the mosques after disciplining them?
The Shaykh: They are directed to do so.
The presenter: May Allah bless you.
The Shaykh: So that they become accustomed to good. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
