The Ruling on Children Standing in the Front Rows
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
He says: When we establish the prayer, we find children standing with the men in the front rows. Should we prevent them, establish the prayer, and place them in the last rows? Or how do you advise us? May Allah reward you with good.
Answer:
If they are of the age of prayer, leave them. That is a boy of seven years or older. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded them to pray and commanded their fathers to command them to pray. He said (peace and blessings be upon him):Sunan ad-Daraqutni 3:5 So if they are of this age, they are left to pray with the people, unless they misbehave, in which case they are removed from the place of their misbehavior, or they are separated in the row so that they do not misbehave.
As for if they are younger than that, they are not of the age of prayer. But if there is a need for them to be next to their father so that they are not lost, there is no blame in that, and it does not harm the row, just as if there were a pillar, a chair, or something similar between two people.
The point is: if he is under seven, it is better for his father not to bring him; he should stay in the house so that he does not disturb the people or misbehave, or he should be behind the rows, waiting for his father until he finishes. If he fears for him and places him near him, there is no blame in that, if Allah wills, provided he does not misbehave or harm anyone.
