How should one deal with one who does not pray or commits what is wrong?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A message from one of the listening brothers who preferred not to have his name mentioned. We presented him with a set of questions in a previous session, and he has one question remaining in this session. He says: Some of our relatives do not pray. Is it obligatory to visit them and be polite to them? We know that we advise them, but they try to escape the topic and are not affected. Please guide us. May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
If your relative or neighbor does not pray, it is obligatory for you and your brothers to advise him with kind words, warn him of Allah, and tell him that prayer is the pillar of Islam and that abandoning it is kufr (disbelief) in Allah(major shirk), according to the correct opinion of the scholars, even if he does not deny its obligation.
So prayer is the pillar of Islam, and in it is great good and great reward. You must advise your relative or neighbor, and strive in that, from you and from your brothers; because Allah says:
cooperate in righteousness and pietyوَتَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْبِرِّ وَالتَّقْوَى
[Al-Ma'idah: 2]. If you have some of your brothers with you, the advice will be more effective and more beneficial. If they refuse and do not accept, they deserve to be boycotted; it is obligatory to boycott them according to a group of scholars.
And a group said: It is recommended to boycott them. In any case, boycotting them is prescribed, except if you see that connecting with them from time to time for the sake of calling to Allah is more beneficial. Then there is no harm in calling to Allah, guiding, and advising, so that perhaps they may find the right path.
Likewise, if you know among your neighbors someone who is lax and openly drinks intoxicants, or deals in riba (usury or interest), or you know of another wrong he has made public and explained to people, and he does not care and does not feel ashamed, it is obligatory to advise him, guide him to good, and warn him of Allahfrom you and some of your brothers; cooperate in righteousness and piety. If the advice comes from two or three people, it is more beneficial, so he may be affected, and repeating it to him is also beneficial so he may respond.
If he persists and does not care, he deserves to be boycotted, just as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) boycotted three of the Companions: Ka'b ibn Malik and his two companions. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) boycotted them for fifty nights; because they lagged behind the expedition to Tabuk without a valid legal excuse, and he had ordered them to go on the expedition, peace and blessings be upon him, and mobilized them.
So if the Companions were boycotted when they committed a sin, then others are even more deserving of it, in the case of an open sin. As for what is between a person and his Lord, Allah who knows it(the hidden sin), but the intended meaning is the open sin, such as abandoning prayer, dealing in riba (usury or interest), and openly drinking intoxicants, and the like. He deserves to be boycotted for that, unless he responds and guides himself, in which case praise be to Allah. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
