The Best Books on Creed

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Your Eminence is asked: What are the best books on creed?

Answer:
The best and most authentic books are: the Great Qur'an, for it explains the correct creed. The Qur'an is the Book of Allah, the most truthful book, the best book, and the greatest book in which the correct creed is explained, along with the names and attributes of Allah, His oneness, and sincerity to Him. It is the greatest book.
Then following that: al-Bukhari and Muslim, the two authentic collections, are the greatest beneficial books of hadith after the Qur'an; because they contain the authentic hadiths of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The two authentic collections: Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim are the most authentic and most beneficial books after the Book of Allah.
Then the other well-known books: Sunan Abu Dawud, al-Tirmidhi, al-Nasa'i, Ibn Majah, and Muwatta Malik, and Sunan al-Darimi are good and beneficial books, even though they contain some weak hadiths, but they are great and beneficial books.
And there are many books on creed, but among them are those authored by the righteous Salaf, such as: Uthman ibn Sa'id al-Darimi in his refutation of the Jahmiyyah, such as the book of Abdullah ibn Ahmad ibn Hanbal in explaining the Sunnah and refuting the people of innovation, such as the book of Tawhid by Ibn Khuzaymah, which contains [discussions] on tawhid and refuting the people of innovation, and similar beneficial books, such as al-Tahawiyyah and its commentary, and such as Luma' al-I'tiqad by al-Muwaqqif, and al-'Aqidah al-Wasitiyyah, and al-Tamimiyyah, and al-Hamawiyyah by Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, all of which are on creed, and the book of Tawhid by Shaykh Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Wahhab (may Allah have mercy on him), a great and beneficial book, Kashf al-Shubuhat on creed, also by Shaykh Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Wahhab (may Allah have mercy on him), and al-Thalathah al-Usul, a good concise book on creed by Shaykh Muhammad (may Allah have mercy on him).
