The Reality of Fortune-Tellers and Sorcerers Curing the Sick

Question:
A story occurred that I will relate to you, and I seek an explanation or advice regarding its subject. We have a neighbor whose daughter is eighteen years old. She fell ill with a mental illness, and they took her to doctors, but she did not benefit from them. Then they took her to fortune-tellers and sorcerers, who said: “There is a jinn in her, and we will extract it.” The girl stayed with them for a short period, one day, and returned home normal, with nothing wrong with her. She is now living a normal, stable life in her father’s house. We have resorted to you, if you would be gracious. May Allah reward you with good.
Answer:
This may occur from the jinn and their shayateen. They may encroach upon a woman or a man with causes of illness, so he becomes ill. Then, if he panics and rushes to them, and the guardian of the woman or the guardian of the man seeks their aid, they assist in that and remove the evil they did; in order to deceive people and trick them, and to lead them to shirk (associating partners with Allah), to exalting the jinn and shayateen, to resorting to them, supplicating to them, calling for their aid, and the like. This is among the stratagems of the shayateen and their malice and their evil deeds.
It is obligatory for the believer not to be deceived by this, not to go to them, not to seek refuge in them, and not to ask them, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said in the authentic hadith:Sahih Muslim 2230, “And he (peace and blessings be upon him), when asked about the fortune-tellers, said: , and he said: Sunan al-Bayhaqi 15:741, and he said: . The existence of this among them and their plotting against people, and this work of theirs and their playing with them, this does not justify going to them or coming to them. Rather, it is obligatory to be wary of them, to stay away from them, and to treat those afflicted with these ailments with the Shari'ah treatment through the recitation that Allah has prescribed. For recitation is a medicine by which the sick are treated, whether from jinn or others. The believer, the student of knowledge, recites for him what is easy from the Qur'an and makes du'a' for him, and the harm is removed by the permission of Allah. This is a proven matter; the imams and scholars have done it from ancient times to the present, and Allah has benefited people through it. Even if it were decreed that he died because of it, he did not die except by his appointed time, where Allah decreed that he would die from this illness and this thing they imagine to be the work of sorcerers or jinn. Therefore, it is not befitting for a person of intellect to prefer his immediate hope of health in their hands, or treatment in their hands, with what harms him in his religion and angers Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He). So his adhering to the Shari'ah command and the Shari'ah treatment, even if he were to die, he did not die except by his appointed time. This is what is obligatory upon him, and it is not permissible for him to seek refuge in sorcerers or fortune-tellers, in his claim of fear of death. All of this is the most false of falsehoods, and among the greatest corruption on earth, and also among the greatest hostility to the religion of Allah, and transgression of what Allah has prescribed . And Allah is the One to be sought for help.

من أتى عرافا فسأله عن شيء لم تقبل له صلاة أربعين يومًاDo not go to them. He said: They are nothing.

من أتى كاهنًا فصدقه بما يقول، فقد كفر بما أنزل على محمد صلى الله عليه وسلمIt is not one of us who performs sorcery or has sorcery performed for him, or goes to a fortune-teller or has a fortune told for him, or takes an omen or has an omen taken for him.
