The Presence of the Muslim and the Disbeliever among the Jinn

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Our brother says: Some people say that there is a shaytan who became a Muslim and a shaytan who remained a disbeliever. Is what is said correct?

Answer:
Among the jinn, there are Muslims and there are disbelievers. The shaytan is the one who rebels. The rebels among the jinn are shayatins, and the rebels among the humans are shayatins. The offspring of the shaytan, who are shayatins, remain in their state as shayatins, turning people away from guidance. As for those among the jinn whom Allah has guided, they are not called shayatins. The shaytan is the one who rebels against the truth and guidance and follows his forefather, the shaytan, in falsehood. And whoever among them is guided by Allah is of our kind; he has his virtue and what Allah has promised of Paradise and good. As Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) said in Surat al-Jinn:
And among us are the righteous, and among us are [others] not so; we were [of] divided ways.وَأَنَّا مِنَّا الصَّالِحُونَ وَمِنَّا دُونَ ذَلِكَ كُنَّا طَرَائِقَ قِدَدًا
[al-Jinn:11]. So if one of them who was a shaytan becomes a Muslim and returns to Islam and holds fast to Islam, he is like the human who was a disbeliever and then returned to Islam and Allah guided him.
So it is said of the jinn and the humans: among them are disbelievers, among them are Muslims, among them are innovators, among them are sinners, among them are Jahmiyyah, among them are Murji'ah, among them are Rafidah, and among them are others. As He (Mighty and Majestic) said:
And among us are the righteous, and among us are [others] not soوَأَنَّا مِنَّا الصَّالِحُونَ وَمِنَّا دُونَ ذَلِكَ
[al-Jinn:11]. Then He said after that:
we were [of] divided ways.كُنَّا طَرَائِقَ قِدَدًا
[al-Jinn:11], meaning: they are divided into distinct, absolute, and varied categories. Among them are the good and the bad, among them are the righteous and the wicked, among them are the follower of the Sunnah and the follower of innovation. And He said in the verse and what follows it:
(14) And among us are Muslims [in submission to Allah], and among us are the unjust. And whoever has become Muslim - those have sought out the right course. (15) But as for the unjust, they will be, for Hell, firewood.'
[al-Jinn:14-15]. Al-Qasit: the one who deviates from the truth. It is said: qasata; if he was unjust. But aqasata is the one who is just. From this is His saying (Exalted and Majestic is He):
Indeed, Allah loves those who act justly.إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ الْمُقْسِطِينَ
[al-Mumtahanah:8], the people of justice, virtue, and insight. So al-Muqsit: a quality of praise, and he is the one who committed to the truth, was moderate, and took hold of justice. And al-Qasit: the one who deviates from the truth, who was unjust regarding the truth and refused to follow the truth. For this reason, He (Mighty and Majestic) said:
And as for the unjust, meaning: the transgressors who deviate from the truth, they will be fuel for the Fire of Hellوَأَمَّا الْقَاسِطُونَ يعني: الجائرون المنحرفون عن الحق فَكَانُوا لِجَهَنَّمَ حَطَبًا
.
So it is said of the jinn and the humans: they are the same. Whoever abandons his shirk and falsehood and enters Islam, he has what the Muslims have, from the jinn and the humans, and he has what is upon them. And whoever remains in his shaytanic nature, disbelief, and misguidance, he has what his companions have, whether jinn or human. And whoever settles on guidance and proceeds on guidance and walks on guidance, he has what Allah has promised the guided. And Allah is the One to be sought for help.

The presenter: And Allah is the Helper, may Allah reward you with good.
