The Ruling on Seeking Blessing from Well Water

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The first message in this episode is one that reached the program from Sudan, sent by one of the brothers, whose name is Yusuf al-Tahir Abd al-Banat. Our brother Yusuf has a lengthy message containing two questions. His first question is also lengthy, and its summary is: that he dug a well, and suddenly people began to seek blessing from this well, treating themselves with its water. He now asks the Shaykh, may Allah preserve him, whether he is sinful in that or not?

Answer:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance. As for what follows:
If the well mentioned contains water that benefits from certain illnesses, and experiments have been conducted with it and people have benefited from it, then there is nothing wrong with that. However, they should be informed and directed that recovery is from Allah and healing is from Allah, and that Allah has placed a blessing in this water to benefit people from such-and-such illness or such-and-such illness, just as Allah placed a blessing in Zamzam to benefit His servants with it in many things. And Allah has placed in some of His creation specific properties that benefit from certain illnesses, so that does no harm. However, the ignorant person should be informed that there is no blessing in it itself; rather, this is a property in it that Allah placed in this water to benefit from such-and-such or such-and-such. It should be explained to him that it benefits from such-and-such and such-and-such based on experiments.
As for seeking blessing from it, the blessing is from Allah. One does not seek blessing from it, but rather one seeks blessing from Allah, and healing is from Allah. He is the One who heals, and He is the One who gives the blessing (Exalted and Majestic is He). However, some of the created things benefit, just as such-and-such meat benefits from such-and-such, and such-and-such fruit benefits from such-and-such, and cauterization benefits from such-and-such and such-and-such, and oil benefits from such-and-such and such-and-such, and so on. These are things Allah has made specific in some of His creation to benefit in certain matters. This does not contradict the fact that they are created, that they are under His dominion, that Allah is their Creator, and that Allah is the Healer and the One who grants recovery..
The conclusion is: some of the created things have properties that benefit from certain illnesses, so there is no objection to using them for the illnesses in which they benefit, according to experiments, but with the belief that healing is from Allah and the blessing is from Allah. So nothing is sought from it; one does not seek blessing from it, nor does one seek healing from it. Healing is from Allah. And the blessing is from Allah..

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
