Question:
We received a question from the sisters that says: O esteemed Shaykh, if a woman wants to work in the field of da'wah (calling to Islam) in society, what books do you advise her to read and discuss among the women, whether for those who are educated or those who are ignorant, in a simplified manner?
Answer:
The most important thing is the Noble Qur'an, teaching the Qur'an and whatever is facilitated from it; because it is the Book of Allah, containing guidance and light: [Al-Isra: 9], [Fussilat: 44]. So my advice to my sisters who are callers to Allah among the women is to focus on the Noble Qur'an in terms of understanding, deepening understanding, and teaching women, and what relates to the short surahs. The most important of these is al-Fatihah, teaching al-Fatihah and its meanings; because it is the Mother of the Qur'an, and in it is: [Al-Fatihah: 5], and in it is: [Al-Fatihah: 6]. This is among the most important things to clarify: what is the meaning of the straight path, what is the meaning of: [Al-Fatihah: 5], what is the meaning of [Al-Fatihah: 7], and so on, of the rulings and clarification in the Book of Allah; each according to its level. For students of knowledge, there is one thing, and for the general women, there is another.
Then teaching the creed: what is the meaning of "La ilaha illa Allah" (There is no god but Allah), what is the meaning of the testimony that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; so that they know Allah with insight, and so that they know the meaning of "La ilaha illa Allah" and that there is no true object of worship except Allah; so that they purify their worship for Allah alone, in prayer, fasting, charity, and all else, for Allah alone. Then teaching prayer: how to pray, and purification: how to purify oneself from janabah (major ritual impurity), from menstruation, from post-natal bleeding, how to perform minor purification from the states that require purification, how to fast, how to pay zakah on her wealth and her jewelry, how to perform Hajj when the time for Hajj comes, how to obey her parents, how to obey her husband and what are her husband's rights over her, and so on. Among the books suitable for her to read are those written on the matter of women and the condition of women, and what is in the Book of Allah regarding their condition, and what the Sunnah brought regarding their condition. For example, "Bulugh al-Maram" is a small, concise, and beneficial book, the foundation of hadith in the hadiths of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), "Umdah al-Fiqh" by al-Muqaddam ibn Qudamah, "The Three Fundamental Principles" by the Shaykh Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Wahhab, "The Book of Tawhid," "The Wasitiyyah Creed," and similar small books that benefit them and are useful for them, or summaries of them; so that the general public and the young students who need it and have not learned in schools can benefit from them.
As for those who study in good schools, they will benefit from the curriculum they have and the courses they have, but there is no harm in adding to it; that the caller (da'iyah) increases the student's knowledge, understanding, and guidance, and teaches the general woman what she needs from what she cannot afford to be ignorant of, in purifying worship for Allah through prayer, through purification, in zakah, in fasting, as mentioned before, in the rights of the husband, in the rights of the parents, in the rights of relatives, in the rights of neighbors, and so on. Among the best books also, even though it is somewhat lengthy, is "Zad al-Ma'ad fi Hady Khayr al-'Ibad" by Ibn al-Qayyim, for it is a beneficial and useful book. Similarly, "Fath al-Majid Sharh Kitab al-Tawhid" is also a beneficial book in the creed. Similarly, "Adab al-Mashy ila al-Salah" is a concise and beneficial book on prayer, on zakah, and on fasting by the Shaykh and Imam Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Wahhab (may Allah have mercy on him). These are concise and beneficial books.

Indeed, this Qur'an guides to that which is most suitable
