What are the specifications of the permissible burqa for a woman?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
What is the ruling on wearing the burqa, especially since some women have been excessive in this? Is it a Shari'ah-prescribed hijab?

Answer:
If it covers the eye or both eyes, it is a Shari'ah-prescribed hijab. If she wears a khimar with it as a precaution, that is good. Otherwise, there is nothing wrong with the burqa, except for the woman in ihram, who does not wear the burqa. The woman in ihram for Hajj or 'Umrah is not allowed to wear the burqa; rather, she covers her face with a shaylah or something similar. As for the woman who is not in ihram, she is allowed to wear the burqa, and she is not allowed to expose anything except the eye or both eyes only, while the rest remains covered.
