Ruling on leasing commercial shops for forbidden matters

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
This man says: Peace be upon you, and Allah’s mercy and blessings. What is the ruling on leasing commercial shops to one who opens a barbershop, or a women’s tailoring shop, or a shop selling video tapes or singing tapes?

Answer:
Shops are not to be leased to one who leases them for sins against Allah; rather, they are to be leased to one who leases them for what is permissible. So, if one leases them to shave people’s beards, or to sell entertainment equipment, or to sell intoxicants, or any of the sins, they are not to be leased to him. It is not permissible in any place, whether in America or in any other place, and he is a Muslim, so it is not permissible for him to assist in sins against Allah, neither by leasing nor by any other means.
