The Ruling on and Method of Responding to the People of Innovation and Debating Them

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
I worked with the Twelver Rafidah Shi'ah in the city of Qatif for nearly a year. During this period, some discussions took place regarding certain differences between the people of the Sunnah and the Shi'ah. I would bring evidence for what I said from their accepted books, such as al-Kafi and Ma La Yahdur al-Faqih, and from books by the people of the Sunnah written about the Shi'ah. They did not accept the argument, claiming that these books, such as al-Kafi and others, are not all authentic. I would give them statements from Khomeini, and they would not refute them. Generally, his question is as follows: I have now moved away from them, and I agreed with one of them to continue the discussion via correspondence. What is your opinion, and what do you advise me in this matter?

Answer:
The Shi'ah are among the most vile of the people of religious innovation, and the worst of them are the Rafidah Imamiyyah, for they are the opposite of Islam and the opposite of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). They are attributed with types of associating partners with Allah and disbelief that are not attributed to others, such as cursing the Companions, exaggerating in 'Ali and the People of the House, and types of shirk (associating partners with Allah). Therefore, no one should argue with them except by saying, "Allah said so and so, and His Messenger said so and so," not by saying, "So-and-so said this and so-and-so said that." However, they and those like them must be confronted with argument against argument, and their falsehood must be refuted by evidence, saying, "Allah said so and so, and His Messenger said so and so," so that they do not confuse people with the words of so-and-so and so-and-so.
It is obligatory that they be called to the truth from the Book and the Sunnah, and according to the practice of the Salaf (the earliest generations) of the Ummah. They mostly do not respond, because their kufr (disbelief) is intentional, like that of the Jews. They are the most similar to the Jews; they argue with falsehood and deny the truth with full knowledge, and they do not respond to the caller to the truth out of stubbornness, kufr (disbelief), and misguidance. We ask Allah for safety.
