The questioner: And he didn't pay, we didn't wait for him, we didn't take anything from him. In the end, some young men who are neighbors of ours came and said, "What do you think? This man, Abu Hussein, his situation is like this and like that, he is unable. He has his wife and children, meaning he has two children with him, you see, and his wife, meaning they are living in the house." So they said, "We want to go and collect some money for this man, and we will cooperate to help him, because he is sick and unable, meaning he was sick for a while in the house and was unable to go to work, and he was unable to feed his children, and unable to pay for housing." So we, who Allah has enabled, paid, and from these young men who are our neighbors, we collected about 120 dinars, you see, we collected 120 dinars on the basis of what? He said, "I want to travel," on the basis of what? That he would travel. So what happened is that we went to book for him, but he was saying, "Wait, go back a little." There were people saying, "What do you want to go and do? You have no money, don't go, they will laugh at you, and I don't know what." The important thing is that they made us, as you say, we intended that this money we collected and we told the people from whom we went to collect money, on the basis that we would help him, on the basis that the man is sick and cut off and wants to travel, meaning for the sake of these children and for the sake of his wife and he wants to travel, you see. So this man, we did not benefit from him except that he is going, you see, to work, and he is going to rent another residence, you see, meaning he is moving out of the house. A little later, I don't know what it is called, meaning the people of good cooperated with me, we wanted to pay his rent for this month of housing, and give some of the hundred and twenty dinars. We gave him thirty dinars from them, he paid the housing rent, and 90 dinars remained. Now, these 90 dinars, Shaykh, this story happened in Ramadan, meaning from Ramadan. Now, these ninety dinars, this man is now working well, and now he is paying the housing rent, and he is able to feed his children. So I, with the 90 dinars, I say to myself, there are people more deserving than him, since this person tricked us, that on the basis he wants to travel, well, and we collected on the basis that we would travel, and we are the group who paid us the money, that they paid this money on the basis of what? That they would send him traveling. So this person now, currently, has become strong and has started working, and now he rented a house, he moved out and rented a house. So these ninety dinars, our Shaykh, what do I do with them?

The Shaykh: These ninety dinars.

The questioner: They are with me, meaning.

The Shaykh: Listen, my brother, may Allah guide you, you are repeating your words for nothing.

The questioner: Go ahead, go ahead.

The Shaykh: The story, we understood it. The ninety dinars you collected from Zayd and Bakr and 'Amr in the name of this tenant who was with you?

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh: Okay, these are not permissible to remain with you.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh: So you must hand them over to him.

The questioner: To him?

The Shaykh: Or to whom did you collect them?

The questioner: Oh Shaykh, it is not that we collected them for him!

The Shaykh: Oh Shaykh, do not repeat the story to me.

The questioner: On the basis that we would send him traveling.

The Shaykh: Do not repeat the story to me.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh: Did you not mention to me that it was on the basis that you would send him traveling?

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh: Why do you repeat the topic? Understand the answer.

The questioner : Yes, yes.

The Shaykh: These ninety dinars are not your property.

The questioner: I am not the one, yes.

The Shaykh : Listen.

The questioner : Yes, yes.

The Shaykh: May Allah guide you, these ninety dinars are not your property.

The questioner : Yes, yes.

The Shaykh: Rather, they are the property of the person in whose name they were collected.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh: And he is that Egyptian. So your duty is to hand these ninety dinars to him, whether he started working or not.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh: Then he should advise him in turn: that we collected this money for you on the basis that you would travel, and you did not travel and you started working, so you still have something of the rent that was due to him because of his staying with you.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh: He still has something with you?

The questioner: I have forgiven him, oh Shaykh.

The Shaykh: Then, since you have forgiven him, hand over the ninety dinars, and advise him that he should dispose of them for the needy, as for them remaining with you, that is not permissible.

The questioner: I do not want the ninety dinars.

The Shaykh: Oh Shaykh, do you want them or not?

The questioner: I do not want the ninety dinars.
