Answer:
The takbir is performed four times for a child, just as it is for an adult. In the final supplication, after the third takbir, once he has said: “O Allah, forgive our living and our dead, our present and our absent, our young and our old, our males and our females, O Allah, whoever You keep alive among us, keep him alive upon Islam, and whoever You cause to die among us, cause him to die upon faith,” he then says: “O Allah, make him a store of good for his parents, a forerunner, and an intercessor whose intercession is accepted. O Allah, magnify their rewards, make his weight heavy in their scales, join him with the righteous, and place him under the care of Ibrahim (peace be upon him) , and protect him and his family from the punishment of the Hellfire.” This is what has been transmitted regarding the child.
