The Bequest to Pray for the Deceased

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
..........؟

Answer:
No, there is no basis for it; one does not pray on behalf of the dead. As for fasting, it is fasted on their behalf if they had a fast they did not make up, whether it was a fast of Ramadan or an expiation, and they lived for days in a sound state of mind and good health but did not make it up; it is fasted on their behalf.
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: If anyone dies in a state (that he had to complete) some fasts, his heir must fast on his behalf.من مات وعليه صيام؛ صام عنه وليه
Sahih Muslim 1147
Whether the fast is a fast of Ramadan, an expiation, or a vow, this is the correct view. Some scholars say: only a vow is fasted on their behalf, and this is a weak opinion. The correct view, indicated by the authentic hadiths, is that a vow and other fasts are fasted on their behalf.
