Is it permissible for a woman to cut her hair, or is it not permissible?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
This is one of many questions, some of which have already been answered: What is the ruling on a woman who cuts her hair from her hairline until it reaches her eyebrows? Is there a difference between a young girl and an adult woman?

Answer:
Regarding cutting hair, we know of no specific ruling. What I know is that shaving is not allowed; she must not shave her head. However, cutting some of its length or reducing its volume, we know of no harm in that. But it should be done in a good manner that she and her husband are pleased with, and they agree upon it, without the intention of imitating disbelieving women. Rather, it should be for a purpose that pleases them both, in which case we know of no harm.
The Mothers of the Believers cut their hair when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away, because keeping it long involved difficulty in combing and fatigue. So if a woman cuts some of it because it is long and abundant, that does no harm. However, there is a fear of imitating disbelieving women, and that is not permissible. It is not permissible for a woman to intend to imitate a group of disbelievers or a disbelieving woman. But if she does it because it is abundant, or because cutting it adds beauty that her husband and she are pleased with, we know of no harm. As for shaving it completely, that is not permissible except due to a cause or illness.
