The Meaning of Ifrad, Qiran, and Tamattu'

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The question is: because he said afterwards: What does "mufarad" mean? What does "qiran" mean? And what is "tamattu'"?
The answer: This is a separate matter. If he is asking about ifrad: its meaning is that he responds to the talbiyah for Hajj alone. This is called: mufarad.
The presenter: Meaning he does not have 'Umrah with it?
The Shaykh: He does not have 'Umrah with it. He says: "O Allah, here I am, for Hajj," and he remains in his state of ihram until he finishes Hajj. This is called: mufarad. If he says: "Here I am for 'Umrah," this is called: mutamatti' if it is before Hajj. Then, if he performs Hajj after Ramadan, he says: "Here I am for 'Umrah," and his intention is to remain until he performs Hajj. This is called: mutamatti'. Or if he says: "Here I am for 'Umrah and Hajj," he is called: qarin. The Sunnah for him is that he does not remain in his current state, but rather he performs tawaf and sa'y, and he exits the state of ihram, becoming a mutamatti'. This is the best, this is the Sunnah for him; he does not remain in his ihram. Likewise, the one performing Hajj, if he responds to the talbiyah for Hajj alone, the Sunnah for him is that he performs tawaf and sa'y, shortens his hair, and exits the state of ihram, becoming a mutamatti', performing 'Umrah. This is because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered the Companions who had entered the state of ihram for Hajj alone, or for both Hajj and 'Umrah, when they entered the month of Dhul-Qa'dah, to make it 'Umrah. So they perform tawaf and sa'y, shorten their hair, and make it 'Umrah. This is the Sunnah, except if he has a sacrificial animal, such as camels, cattle, or sheep, even if it is just one head. The one who has something remains in his ihram, whether he is mufarad, qarin, or responding to the talbiyah for 'Umrah. He remains in his ihram and responds to the talbiyah for Hajj along with 'Umrah, remaining until he exits the state of ihram from both his Hajj and 'Umrah on the Day of Sacrifice.
The presenter: You have done well, may Allah reward you.
