Ruling on the agreement of a husband and wife to stop having children

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
If a husband and wife agree to stop having children, what is the ruling?
Answer: It is not permissible for them to do so as long as the woman is capable, for they have no right to do that. This is because the Shari'ah wants people to care for their children and to increase the Muslim community. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Marry women who are fertile and loving, for I will be boasting with you before the nations on the Day of Resurrection.تزوجوا الولود الودود فإني مكاثر بكم الأمم يوم القيامة
Sunan al-Bayhaqi 10:869
And in another wording:
The prophets on the Day of Resurrectionالأنبياء يوم القيامة
Also, in this lies the increase of those who worship Allah from among the Muslims, and in this also lies the increase of the community so that it becomes the strongest against its enemies. Therefore, a man should not refrain from having children out of fear of the burden of expenses and the hardship of maintenance, or for the sake of taking pleasure with his wife or the like. Nor should a woman do so. Rather, they must engage in the causes of offspring and strive for the causes of offspring so that they increase the community and so that they realize what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said. However, if there is harm to the woman, because she suffers greatly due to an illness in her womb, or because she does not give birth except through a surgical procedure, then this is an excuse for not having children if the procedure harms her and there is fear for her from it.
Likewise, if the children are numerous, such that they are born in close succession and it is difficult for her to raise them, there is no harm in her taking some pills or some contraceptive for a year or two, the duration of breastfeeding, until she is able to raise them, and until she can use this to help in raising the new children. Yes.
