The ruling on a woman going out to the mosque for the Friday prayer
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
He also asks and says: My mother prays the five daily prayers, and she even prays the recommended prayers completely, including the Duha and the Witr. However, on Friday, she does not pray except in the mosque, which is about nine kilometers away. I advise her that a woman’s prayer in her home is better, and that the Friday prayer in the home is also better and more correct for a woman. But she refuses to do anything other than going to the mosque on Friday. Is there any blame on her for going out to perform the prayer?
Answer: There is no blame. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sunan Abi Dawud 566 So if she goes out in order to hear the sermon and benefit from it, and she is covered, veiled, and modest, then there is nothing wrong with that and no blame on her. However, her home is better for her; she should pray the Zuhr prayer in her home on Friday, four rak'ahs. And if she goes out, do not prevent her. If she is modest, veiled, sound in her intention, seeking good, and listening to the sermon and benefiting from it, then there is nothing wrong with that and no blame on her, if Allah wills. The women used to pray with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in his mosque, and they would attend the sermon and the Friday prayer. Many women used to attend the Friday prayer with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). So there is nothing wrong with that and no blame, but their homes are better for them. Yes.
