Ruling on returning the greeting during ablution and during urination and defecation

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The question: It also says, returning the greeting during ablution, does it invalidate the ablution, and is it disliked? Please inform us, may Allah reward you.
The answer: It is not disliked, and it does not invalidate the ablution. If someone greets you while you are performing the prescribed ablution, it is prescribed for you to return the greeting. If you leave the greeting and do not return it, there is no blame on you if you are in the state of cleaning yourself after relieving oneself, removing impurity; because some of the common people call it ablution. However, returning the greeting in this case is permissible, if Allah wills. This is unlike the state of urination, the state of relieving oneself, where it is better not to return the greeting until you finish, then you return the greeting. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was greeted while he was urinating, so he did not return it until he stood up, struck the wall, performed dry ablution, and returned the greeting, and he said:
I disliked remembering Allah except in the state of purification.إني كرهت أن أذكر الله على غير طهارة
Sunan Abi Dawud 17Sahih (Al-Albani)
.
So the conclusion is that if he is performing the prescribed ablution, which is washing the face and hands, wiping the head, and washing the feet, this is the prescribed ablution, and some people call it wiping, if someone greets him, he returns the greeting without any doubt. It is obligatory for him to return the greeting, and the ablution is not invalidated by returning the greeting or by leaving it, but it is obligatory for him to return the greeting. As for if he is cleaning himself after relieving oneself, the most apparent view is that he also returns the greeting; because cleaning oneself after relieving oneself is not urination or defecation, but it involves touching impurity. However, if he leaves it, by analogy to the state of the one who urinates, there is nothing wrong with it, if Allah wills, and there is no blame. And if he returns it, there is no blame. As for the one who is urinating or defecating, it is better that he not return the greeting in this state, and that he not greet him in this state. Yes.
