Ruling on passing in front of the ma'mum during prayer
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Shaykh 'Abd al-'Aziz, I have a set of questions regarding prayer:
The first question: What is the ruling on passing between the rows of worshippers until the passer finds a place to pray in?
Answer: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send blessings and peace upon the Messenger of Allah, upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance.
To proceed: There is no blame on a Muslim passing between the worshippers while the imam is praying to seek a place if he finds no path other than that. However, if he finds a path by which he can go until he connects with the end of the rows, it is better for him to go with the path so as not to disturb anyone. But if he needs to do so, there is nothing wrong with it; because the ma'mum is not harmed by one passing in front of him; because he is bound by the prayer of the imam, so one passing in front of him does not harm him.
And in the two Sahihs, it is narrated from Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: meaning between the rows, so that did not harm their prayer; because they are governed by the ruling of the imam, the sutrah of the imam is a sutrah for them, so the passing of the donkey -meaning: the female donkey- or the passing of another person does not harm them, but if it is easy for the person or his mount to pass from another side so as not to disturb the rows, that is what is better.
And perhaps the reason for the passing of Ibn 'Abbas's donkey was that a path was not available for it at that time, so it passed in front of some of the rows. Yes.
