The Ruling on Taking an Omen from the Coincidence of One of the Festivals with Friday

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
From the Democratic Republic of Sudan, this message is sent by our brother: Ahmad Ishaq Sharaf al-Din. Our brother asks and says: There are several contradictions and omens associated with Friday when it falls on a festival day. What is the reason for these omens and hesitations, when all days are days of Allah? I ask for your guidance?
Answer: These things you referred to are due to ignorance and lack of insight. I am not aware, from what has reached me about the countries whose people’s conduct has been reported to us, that they take Friday as an omen. Friday is a noble day, a beloved day for Muslims. It is a day of their gathering. If it coincides with a festival day, it becomes a festival with a festival. So how can there be taking an omen? This is something strange. If this occurred in the questioner’s country, it indicates ignorance on the part of those who do it, and a lack of insight. Friday is a festival day. If it coincides with the Festival of Breaking the Fast or the Festival of Sacrifice, then two festivals have come together. What is required is to rejoice in both and be glad of both, and to do what Allah has prescribed in them.
As for taking an omen from this, it is a reprehensible thing with no basis and no reason. They are two great, noble days that have come together. In them is great good, and in them is a gathering for the obedience of Allah and His worship, and listening to the sermon. So what basis is there for this taking of an omen? There is no basis for it. Rather, it is a false matter and a reprehensible matter with no basis.
