The Obligation of Caring for the Hereafter and Having Little Attachment to This World
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
We ask you to please offer a word of guidance to the ears of every Muslim man and woman in the world regarding what Islam forbids, namely turning away from the love of this world and its pleasures, and accumulating wealth under the pretext of securing the future, and adhering to the obligations of modern life invented by extreme Western peoples, as he expressed it?
The answer: There is no doubt that it is obligatory for the believing man and the believing woman to be concerned with the matter of the Hereafter, and that their greatest concern and their greatest aim should be preparing for the Hereafter and striving to present what pleases Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He). This is the obligation of every Muslim man and woman in all of this world.
It is not permissible, indeed it is not allowed, for a Muslim to turn to this world and be occupied with it to the neglect of the Hereafter. Rather, it is obligatory for every Muslim man and woman to care for the matter of the Hereafter, to focus on it, to perform the obligations of Allah, to avoid the prohibitions of Allah, to seek help through the blessings of Allah in obeying Allah, and to beware of being occupied with this world and its desires to the neglect of what Allah has made obligatory upon him. This is the obligation of every Muslim. Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Kahf: 46] And in the other verse: [Maryam: 76].
So the conclusion is that it is obligatory for the believer to care for what Allah has made obligatory upon him and to beware of what Allah has forbidden him. However, this does not prevent him from earning lawful sustenance, and seeking lawful sustenance through trade, agriculture, or industry that does not occupy him from performing what Allah has made obligatory, nor lead him into what Allah has forbidden. May Allah grant all of you success and guidance.
The presenter: O Allah, amen.

Wealth and children are [but] adornment of the worldly life. But the enduring good deeds are better to your Lord for reward and better for [one's] hope.
الْمَالُ وَالْبَنُونَ زِينَةُ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَالْبَاقِيَاتُ الصَّالِحَاتُ خَيْرٌ عِنْدَ رَبِّكَ ثَوَابًا وَخَيْرٌ أَمَلًاbetter to your Lord for reward and better for recourse.
خَيْرٌ عِنْدَ رَبِّكَ ثَوَابًا وَخَيْرٌ مَرَدًّاSo the conclusion is that it is obligatory for the believer to care for what Allah has made obligatory upon him and to beware of what Allah has forbidden him.
