How the Muslim Sees This World in Its True Reality

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 10719 )
Q2: How does the Muslim see this world in its true reality so that he does not fall into
many errors?

A2: He sees that the enjoyment of this world is little, and that the Hereafter is better and more lasting, and he reflects on the parables that Allah the Exalted has struck for this world, so that he may know its reality, and that it is a place of passage and transit with no permanence, so he provisions himself from it with righteous deeds for the Hereafter. Allah the Exalted said:
(45) And present to them the example of the life of this world, [its being] like rain which We send down from the sky, and the vegetation of the earth mingles with it and [then] it becomes dry remnants, scattered by the winds. And Allah is ever, over all things, Perfect in Ability. (46) Wealth and children are [but] adornment of the worldly life. But the enduring good deeds are better to your Lord for reward and better for [one's] hope.
[Al-Kahf 18:45-46]
And He the Exalted said:
(20) Know that the life of this world is but amusement and diversion and adornment and boasting to one another and competition in increase of wealth and children - like the example of a rain whose [resulting] plant growth pleases the tillers; then it dries and you see it turned yellow; then it becomes [scattered] debris. And in the Hereafter is severe punishment and forgiveness from Allah and approval. And what is the worldly life except the enjoyment of delusion. (21) Race toward forgiveness from your Lord and a Garden whose width is like the width of the heavens and earth, prepared for those who believed in Allah and His messengers. That is the bounty of Allah which He gives to whom He wills, and Allah is the possessor of great bounty.
[Al-Hadid 57:20-21]
So whoever
knows this world as Allah has described it in the parables will not be deceived by it, and will provision himself from it for the Hereafter, hoping that Allah will record him among the successful. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
