Advice for high school students and their teachers

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Some of the honorable listeners, just as Your Eminence, Shaykh Abdulaziz, did, may have paused at this conscious and alert discussion by a high school student. Perhaps this time allows us to offer a word of guidance to those like him, of this age, and at this stage of education?
Answer: There is no doubt that students are a model for others, a model for their classmates, and teachers are even more so. This statement indicates that this student has an interest in his religion and an eagerness to know the truth; may Allah increase him in good. My advice to him and to young people like him is to fear Allah, to take an interest in their religion, and not to let other subjects distract them from religious subjects and from understanding the religion. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
He upon whom Allah intends to bestow goodness, He confers upon him an insight in religionمن يرد الله به خيرا يفقهه في الدين
Sahih Muslim 1037a
.
It is obligatory for everyone to focus on their religion and to understand it, whether in high school, in university studies, in their reading and study among themselves, or with their teachers, so that they understand their religion, gain insight, and know the ruling with its evidence. For knowledge is knowing the ruling with its evidence, not through following a scholar without knowing his evidence or the opinion of so-and-so. The scholar is the one who knows the rulings by their evidence from the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him).
I also advise the teachers and educators everywhere to fear Allah and to be a good model for the students in maintaining the congregational prayer, caring for it, and holding it in high regard, and to encourage the students to do the same. This way, the teacher becomes a model for the student in revering the commands and prohibitions of Allah, in maintaining the congregational prayer, in holding it in high regard, and in being cautious about being negligent with it.
May Allah provide all of you with success and guidance.
The presenter: O Allah, amen... O Allah, amen.
