The Virtue of Daughters and Patience in Raising Them
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
A sister of ours from Al-Khabar used the letters (M. M. S) to symbolize her name. She asked only ten questions in total. In one of her questions, she said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sunan Ibn Majah 3669Sahih (Darussalam). The question is: Are they a shield from the Fire for their father only, or is the mother also a partner in that? And I have, praise be to Allah, three daughters.
Answer: This is general. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sahih Muslim 2629. Likewise, if they are sisters, aunts, or great-aunts, the meaning is the same. So if there are two daughters, two sisters, two aunts, or the like, the meaning is the same if he treats them well. If there are more than two, such as three or four, it is even more so. Whenever he treats them well, he thereby deserves the great reward, and he is shielded from the Fire and kept away from the Fire by his good deed. This applies to Muslims; these are among the deeds of Muslims. The Muslim who performs these good deeds has thereby caused his own salvation from the Fire. Salvation from the Fire and entering Paradise have many causes, and the believer should seek to accumulate as many of them as possible. Islam itself is the sole cause, the foundation, and the basis for entering Paradise and being saved from the Fire.
There are also deeds that, when a Muslim performs them, he is promised Paradise and salvation from the Fire. For example, one who is blessed with daughters or sisters and treats them well: they become a shield for him from the Fire. Similarly, one whose children die before reaching the age of accountability: they become a shield for him from the Fire. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:. They did not ask him about one child. It was also reported from him (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: Allah says : Sahih al-Bukhari 6424.
So the Exalted and Majestic has made clear that there is no reward for His believing servant with Him if He takes his beloved from among the people of this world and he is patient and seeks reward, except Paradise. One child falls under this category. If Allah takes one of his children and he seeks reward and is patient, he has Paradise. This is a great virtue. So it is with his wife, and so it is with his brother, and so it is with his father, and so on. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you. Please direct us to this kindness, or the aspects of this kindness, if you would be so kind?
The Shaykh: The aspects are many. Among them is: treating daughters well by raising them with Islamic upbringing, teaching them, and guiding them. It includes being careful about their chastity or keeping them away from what Allah has forbidden, such as tabarruj (display of adornment) and the like. It includes raising sisters in the same way, or male children in the same way, and other aspects of kindness, so that everyone is raised in obedience to Allah and His Messenger, and in keeping away from the prohibitions of Allah and fulfilling the right of Allah, the Exalted and Majestic.
The presenter: May Allah reward you. So the intention is not just food, drink, and clothing?
The Shaykh: Religion is greater. Yes.

Uqbah bin Amir said, I heard the Messenger of Allah(ﷺ) say: "Whoever has three daughters and is patient towards them, and feeds them, gives them to drink, and clothes them from his wealth; they will be a shield for him from the Fire on the Day of Resurrection.'"
من كانت له ثلاث بنات فصبر عليهن وسقاهن وكساهن كن له حجاباً من النارAnswer: This is general. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
He who is involved (in the responsibility) of (bringing up) daughters, and he accords benevolent treatment towards them, there would be protection for him against Hell-Fire.
من ولي ابنتين فأحسن إليهن كن له ستراً من النارThere are also deeds that, when a Muslim performs them, he is promised Paradise and salvation from the Fire. For example, one who is blessed with daughters or sisters and treats them well: they become a shield for him from the Fire. Similarly, one whose children die before reaching the age of accountability: they become a shield for him from the Fire. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whoever has three children who die before reaching the age of accountability, they will be a shield for him from the Fire. They said: O Messenger of Allah! Or two? He said: Or two.
من مات له ثلاثة أفراط كانوا له حجاباً من النار، قالوا: يا رسول الله! أو اثنين؟ قال: أو اثنينI have nothing to give but Paradise as a reward to my believer slave, who, if I cause his dear friend (or relative) to die, remains patient (and hopes for Allah's Reward).
ما لعبدي المؤمن جزاء إذا أخذت صفيه من أهل الدنيا فاحتسبه إلا الجنةSo the Exalted and Majestic has made clear that there is no reward for His believing servant with Him if He takes his beloved from among the people of this world and he is patient and seeks reward, except Paradise.
