The ruling on the prayer of one who listened to singing before it
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The third question in the letter of the brother (N. M.) from the city of al-Ramadi says: What is the ruling on one who listens to singing and then prays? Please inform us, may Allah reward you with good.
Answer: Listening to singing is a blameworthy act that is not permissible, but it does not prevent the validity of the prayer. He has combined evil and good. If he listens to singing or instruments of amusement and then prays, he has combined evil and good. His prayer is valid if it meets its conditions and he performs it as Allah commanded. He must repent from listening to the singing. Allah the Exalted said: : [Luqman: 6]. Most of the exegetes, may Allah have mercy on them, said that is: singing. Some of them said that instruments of amusement and every blameworthy sound are included with it. So Allah, Exalted and Majestic is He, criticized the one who does this, saying: [Luqman: 6]. This is by way of criticism and blame for them, and a warning against this action.
So it is not permissible for a Muslim to listen to singing, because it sickens the hearts and prevents them from the remembrance of Allah, and it causes them to be heavy in listening to the Qur'an. It also causes mockery of the verses of Allah. The danger in it is great.
It is obligatory for the believing man and the believing woman to be wary of that, and to stay away from listening to songs and musical instruments, out of fear of heart disease and out of fear of the anger of Allah . However, the prayer is valid with this; the singer and the listener of singing have valid prayers if they perform them as Allah Mighty and Majestic commanded. Yes.

And of the people is he who buys the amusement of speech to mislead [others] from the way of Allah without knowledge and who takes it in ridicule. Those will have a humiliating punishment.
