The Ruling on Listening to Singing

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The third question of Fatwa No. ( 16301 )
Q 3: What is the ruling on singing ?
A 3: Listening to singing is forbidden; because Allah the Exalted said:
And of the people is he who buys the amusement of speech to mislead [others] from the way of Allah without knowledgeوَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَنْ يَشْتَرِي لَهْوَ الْحَدِيثِ لِيُضِلَّ عَنْ سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ
[Luqman 31:6]
, and "idle talk" is: singing, as a group of the Companions interpreted it as such, among them Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), and in (Sahih al-Bukhari ):
Indeed, there will be a group of people in the end times who will make lawful fornication, silk, intoxicants, and musical instruments; Allah will cause the earth to swallow them up.إن قومًا في آخر الزمان يستحلون الحر والحرير والخمر والمعازف، يخسف الله بهم الأرض
[It is stated that] musical instruments are grouped with zina, wearing silk for men, and intoxicants, and all of these are forbidden, which indicates the prohibition of musical instruments, which are instruments of entertainment and singing.
