The ruling on pilgrims engaging in trade during the days of Hajj

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The following message was received by the program from the listener, pilgrim Ahmad al-Sharif Muhammad Ismail, from Jordan-Amman. He says in it: I read in some books that it is permissible for the pilgrim to trade during the days of Hajj, and the evidence for that is the saying of Allah :
There is no blame upon you for seeking bounty from your Lordلَيْسَ عَلَيْكُمْ جُنَاحٌ أَنْ تَبْتَغُوا فَضْلًا مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ
[al-Baqarah:198]. So I ask your eminence to clarify this matter? What is the ruling in that? May Allah reward you with the best reward?
Answer: The matter is as you heard; there is no blame in that. There is nothing wrong with trade in the seasons of Hajj for the pilgrims. This is from the favor of Allah . So he performs Hajj and seeks what is with Allah, and there is nothing wrong with him trading, selling, and buying, seeking sustenance in 'Arafah, in Muzdalifah, in Mina, in any place; because of His saying :
There is no blame upon you for seeking bounty from your Lordلَيْسَ عَلَيْكُمْ جُنَاحٌ أَنْ تَبْتَغُوا فَضْلًا مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ
[al-Baqarah:198]. The people used to be hesitant about that, so Allah revealed the verse and removed the hesitation. Some of them recited:
There is no blame upon you for seeking bounty from your Lord [during Hajj]ليس عليكم جناح أن تبتغوا فضلاً من ربكم في مواسم الحج
[Al-Baqarah 2:198]
, with the addition:
in the seasons of Hajjفي مواسم الحج
. The meaning is this meaning: by way of interpretation, the meaning is that there is no blame on them in trade in the seasons of Hajj, from ..... the station of Muzdalifah, the station of 'Arafah, the station of Mina, in the valley of Makkah, .. all of this has no blame in it, and praise be to Allah. Yes.
