Does trade affect the intention and purpose in Hajj?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
You have been generous, may Allah reward you with good. In your speech, you mentioned that one of the greatest purposes of Hajj is directing oneself to Allah alone. Does this mean that if a person intends to perform Hajj and work at the same time, or engage in trade by buying and selling in the sacred sites, his Hajj is invalid?

Answer:
No, that is not what is meant. The point is that he performs Hajj for Allah; his intention is not that Hajj is for showing off or seeking fame, or for a worldly aim. If he earns a living alongside his Hajj, there is nothing wrong with it, as Allah the Exalted said:
There is no blame upon you for seeking bounty from your Lordلَيْسَ عَلَيْكُمْ جُنَاحٌ أَنْ تَبْتَغُوا فَضْلًا مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ
[Surat al-Baqarah: 198]. Ibn 'Abbas said: This was revealed regarding trade during Hajj, and that there is no blame on them for it. This is from the favor of Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He): he performs Hajj and trades, or works as a hired worker, or rents out his vehicle, or something similar. However, his Hajj must be for Allah, not for the purpose of showing off or seeking fame, or for some other aim.
