Sufi Myths and Practices of Associating Partners with Allah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
One of the brothers says: Despite the perfection of the Shari'ah, there are still those who claim to be Muslim who worship Allah through dreams and order their followers to do so, especially in the Sufi orders that have become the foundation of the religion in many Muslim countries despite their differences. We ask for clarification on the danger of this matter!

Answer:
The religion is holding fast to the law of Allah that came through the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). There is no law after Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). Dreams are not legislative. Dreams, stories about the past, and the like, or about the shaykhs, all these myths have no basis, and it is not permissible to rely on them to declare what is lawful or forbidden. Rather, what is lawful and forbidden is what Allah and His Messenger made lawful and what Allah and His Messenger forbade.
As for what the Sufis do: worshipping the shaykhs, exalting the shaykhs, declaring lawful what they declare lawful, and declaring forbidden what they declare forbidden without evidence or proof; this is misguidance and disbelief (may Allah protect us from it), and a departure from Islam. We ask Allah for safety. This is what some of them do. And what some of them have of religious innovations, myths, and legislating something that Allah has not legislated, that is also an innovation and an evil. Likewise, what some of them do of worshipping their shaykh, directing their hearts to him, calling upon him, seeking aid from him, making vows to him, and asking him to fulfill needs, relieve distress, and provide support in times of distress, all of this is disbelief and misguidance, whether he is alive or dead. We ask Allah for safety.
So the Sufis: they have wonders and strange things of various types of shirk (associating partners with Allah), misguidance, religious innovations, and sins. One should beware of their evil and beware of the falsehood they are upon.
And it is obligatory upon the people of knowledge: to clarify to people their condition, and that every group in any country must have their condition clarified by the scholars of truth, and that they should also clarify to them the falsehood they are in, and that they should debate them and strive until they clarify the truth to them, and until they take them out of the falsehood they are in.
And these are many groups in Sham, in Iraq, in Africa, in Egypt, and in many lands. It is obligatory upon the people of knowledge there, and upon everyone who is able to find the way to know in detail the falsehood they are in, to clarify their falsehood in detail. And this requires studying their conditions and knowing in detail the falsehood they are upon, then explaining that through writings, in newspapers, and in magazines, so that the falsehood is clarified and the truth is made clear.
