The Ruling on Intermediation for Others
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Is intermediation like a bribe, knowing that the intermediation is without money?
Answer:
If the intercession, or intermediation, entails depriving a deserving person, it is not permissible. However, if the intermediation or intercession is for employment, or for paying off a debt, or something similar, and it is not known that any harm will result from it, then there is nothing wrong with it. This is because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: One person seeking a need, and I interceded for him so that his need would be met, whether it was paying off a debt or employment in a suitable place; there is nothing wrong with this, except if it is known that his employment will lead to injustice, such as saying: "Place him in so-and-so's position, and employ him in so-and-so's position without right, because he is a relative or a friend." This is not permissible.
