The Ruling on the Adhan and Iqamah at the Grave and Reciting the Qur'an in the Deceased's House

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Is the adhan and iqamah at the grave of the deceased prescribed? And is reciting the Qur'an at the grave, or in the deceased's house for the three days, based on any evidence, or not?

Answer:
This is a religious innovation with no basis. Some people call the adhan at the grave, or call the iqamah at the grave; this is a religious innovation with no basis. Or they recite there; some of this recitation is a religious innovation with no basis. Likewise, gathering in the deceased's house and reciting there for days and nights is a religious innovation with no basis.

Question : This is widespread in the cemetery, and there is no one there to guide them?

Answer: No, the preachers should be alerted, and the Committee—may Allah will it—will observe it. And you are one of the people; if you see it, you should forbid it—may Allah reward you with good. You are one of the brothers; you tell them: this is a religious innovation, and this is not permissible. Because calling to Allah is not exclusive to one person over another. Whoever knows something should make it clear to the people. And the Committee likewise. So it is obligatory to help one another and cooperate in righteousness and piety.
