Ruling on trimming the beard and making it even
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
What is the ruling on one who shaves his beard with the intention of making it even, because some of his face has thick hair and other parts are almost devoid of hair?
Answer:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send blessings and peace upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and his Companions. As for what follows:
It is established from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih Muslim 260.
So he commanded the trimming of the moustache and its cutting, and he commanded the letting grow of the beard, its fullness, and its hanging down (peace and blessings be upon him). This is what is obligatory upon the believer: to let the beard grow, to let it hang down, to keep it full, and not to subject it to any cutting or making even. Rather, he should leave it, let it grow, and let it hang down as the noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded him.
As for the moustache, it is obligatory to trim it and not to let it grow long.
