The Legal Objectives of the 'Aqiqah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
What is the wisdom behind the 'aqiqah? And why are there two for a boy and one for a girl? And what is your opinion regarding modern upbringing that gives the son freedom with the intention of not complicating things?

Answer:
This is a sunnah (recommended practice) that Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) legislated for His servants, and the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) established it for us. He legislated that two sheep be slaughtered for a boy and one sheep for a girl. He said:
Every boy is pawned against his 'Aqiqah, to be slaughtered on his behalf on the seventh day of his birth, his head is to be shaved, and he must be given a name.كل غلام مرتهن بعقيقته، تذبح عنه يوم سابعه، ويحلق، ويسمى
Bulugh al-Maram 12:44
This is something Allah has legislated, and it contains benefits. There is no doubt that He did not legislate it in vain or for nothing, but rather He legislated it for a profound wisdom, and Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) ... for a wisdom.
The fact that it is two for a male and one for a female is not strange; because the male is preferred over the female in his inheritance
for the male, what is equal to the share of two femalesلِلذَّكَرِ مِثْلُ حَظِّ الْأُنْثَيَيْنِ
[Surat al-Nisa: 11]. In marriage, he is given half in the absence of children, and a quarter in the presence of children. The female is given an eighth with children, and a quarter without them. This is a known matter in the Shari'ah; because the male has his status, and the female has her status. And Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) differentiated between women and men in many matters for a profound wisdom. So the believer must obey the command of Allah and hasten to the legislation of Allah, even if he does not know the wisdom. Our Lord is Wise and Knowing .
