The Ruling on Obedience to a Created Being in Disobedience to the Creator

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A man was afflicted with madness, and he is of advanced age. After a period of time, the madness left him. He orders his sons to pray in congregation, but he does not attend Jumu'ah (Friday prayer) or the congregational prayer. He says that the jinn that was with him tells him: "If you pray in congregation, I will kill you." Please give us a ruling, may Allah reward you with good?

Answer:
May Allah send prayers and peace upon the Messenger of Allah, his family, and his Companions. As for what follows: There is no doubt that madness may occur, and it may be removed by many causes. However, if a jinn orders its host to disobey Allah, there is no listening to it and no obedience. It is well known that jinn engage in frightening and intimidating people, and... from those who say but do not do. They may also do what the open sinners among the children of Adam do.
Therefore, it is obligatory for him to disobey the wicked one and to obey Allah and His Messenger; because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
A creature is not to be obeyed when it involves disobedience to the "Creator.”إنما الطاعة بالمعروف لا طاعة لمخلوق في معصية الخالق

.
This threat is not from one whose threat is known to be carried out. If it were a threat from a capable person who is expected to carry it out against him, this would be considered coercion according to the scholars. But this is frightening from Satan and discouragement from him, so he should not listen to it and obey it. If it were to happen that he carried it out, he would be a martyr, and it would not harm him with Allah .
