How to Deal with a Stubborn Person Who Refuses Advice

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
How should one advise a stubborn person? I mean, after he has known the truth and has come to dislike hearing advice, what should be the state of the one giving advice? And if he remains silent, does he sin?

Answer:
Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) said:
And do not argue with the People of the Scripture except in a way that is best, except for those who commit injustice among themوَلَا تُجَادِلُوا أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ إِلَّا بِالَّتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ إِلَّا الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا مِنْهُمْ
[Al-'Ankabut: 46]. So the reward for the stubborn wrongdoer is something else. If he is advised, it is repeated to him, and he is dealt with, but it does not benefit him, his reward is a different matter, which is discipline. He is referred to the authorities so that he is disciplined according to his condition, by imprisonment or beating or something else that he deserves, according to his sin. First is advice, first is guidance. If he is stubborn and defiant and does not accept the advice, then one moves to another matter with him, with the punishment prescribed by Allah, according to what the authority sees, or he is referred to the court, and the court sees whether it is beating, imprisonment, a fine, execution, or something else. Yes.
