How to Deal with a Brother Who Does Not Pray

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
He has a brother about whom he says: My brother does not pray unless my father is at home, and my father travels a lot. When my father travels—and sometimes he is away for three months—my brother stops praying. We often argue about this, so what is the best solution for dealing with him? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
The constant advice, and the earnest effort to perform the prayer. If you are older than him, there is no harm in disciplining him, or referring his case to the Commission. But as much as possible, you and your relatives whom he respects and values should advise him and guide him to good, and tell him that you will inform his father if he persists in his bad behavior; perhaps Allah will guide him through your efforts.
If the advice does not benefit him and he does not accept it, then refer his case to the Commission, or to the local authority if that is beneficial, so that he is disciplined and guided to good.
But as much as possible, before referring his case to the Commission or the authority, as much as possible, advise him and cooperate with your relatives in advising him, and threaten him that you will inform his father. As much as possible, do this; perhaps it will benefit, and it is preferable. If the need arises to refer his case to the Commission or the righteous authority, then there is nothing wrong with it; in fact, it is obligatory. Yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
