The Shaykh’s advice to the Salafis in Sham regarding training the soul to perform righteous deeds.

The Shaykh : So I say now, without a doubt, there is this awakening or return, but interwoven with this awakening and return is a phenomenon that does not please the heart of any Muslim, which is the lack of the appearance of righteous deeds, even among those who have returned, not only to the necessity of going back to the Book and the Sunnah, but also to the methodology of the righteous predecessors. In fact, many deeds are apparent from them that this Book and Sunnah, understood according to the methodology of the righteous predecessors, do not approve of. Therefore, we remind, and the reminder benefits the believing Muslims in general and the young generation today who have awakened to this correct methodology, of the necessity of righteous deeds. It is not permissible for them to be deluded into thinking that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) has granted them some beneficial knowledge, because, as we mentioned earlier, this beneficial knowledge will not benefit them unless it is accompanied by righteous deeds. It is certain that the scope of righteous deeds is very, very broad, but the important thing is that we remind of some deviations that appear from some of the Muslim youth, indeed from some of the students who, as I indicated earlier, have returned to this correct methodology. Many have passed among them who acknowledge many of the Islamic etiquettes that they read in the books of the authentic Sunnah, but unfortunately, they grew up with this knowledge as children and did not become mature in it, because they did not find anyone to oversee their upbringing with a correct upbringing in this purified Islam. Therefore, every rising and sincere young man for Allah (Mighty and Majestic) feels that the educators in the Muslim world on this correct methodology are very, very few. So it is not permissible for the Muslim youth to wait for the coming of the righteous educator, but rather, as He (the Exalted) said in the Noble Qur'an: [Al-Ma'idah 5:105], so we advise the Muslim youth that their concern, above all else, should be with themselves, starting from this noble verse: [Al-Ma'idah 5:105], and from the like of the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), even if he said it on an occasion other than this one: . I say this because we find that many of the students of knowledge, their concern and interest is in others, and they do not care about themselves. Their interest in others is to teach them; there is no harm in that, and to remind them; there is no harm in that, indeed this is obligatory upon everyone who knows something to convey it... but on the condition that this not be his constant habit and that his goal not be only the concern for people, and that he forgets himself without... but rather he should concern himself with rectifying himself before concerning himself with his son.
O you who have believed, upon you is [responsibility for] yourselves. Those who have gone astray will not harm you when you have been guided
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْفُسَكُمْ لَا يَضُرُّكُمْ مَنْ ضَلَّ إِذَا اهْتَدَيْتُمْO you who have believed, upon you is [responsibility for] yourselves. Those who have gone astray will not harm you when you have been guided

ابدَأْ نفسك ثمَّ بِمَن تعول
