Who is obligated to pay zakah on a shop sold three months before the zakah due date: the seller or the buyer?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
I have a stationery shop, and three months before the zakah due date, I sold it to another person. So who pays the zakah? Is the zakah obligatory on me or on the buyer?

Answer:
Subhan Allah, each one pays the zakah on his own wealth. You have the money from the sale, so you pay zakah on it. He has the goods; if he intends to sell them as well, he pays zakah on them by appraising them at their value when the lunar year is completed on the capital and paying zakah on that. So each one pays zakah on what he owns.
