One who sleeps through the Fajr prayer on the pretext of staying up for study

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
This questioner asks: What is the ruling on one who sleeps through the Fajr prayer on the pretext that he stays up for the purpose of studying and taking exams?

Answer:
What Allah willed, what Allah willed. This person is successful in that he wastes the obligatory prayer and stays up. And what does seeking knowledge have to do with it when he is wasting the obligatory prayers? There is no benefit in seeking knowledge. The Fajr prayer must be performed in its time and in congregation, and nothing takes precedence over it.
