Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
I hope you will explain the hadith: “May Allah curse the one who shelters an innovator”?

Answer:
Answer: “May Allah curse the one who shelters an innovator” means that if a hadd from the hudud of Allah becomes obligatory upon a person, the hadd must be carried out against him, and no one may object, or have their intercession prevent the execution of the hadd. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wanted to cut off the hand of a woman who used to borrow goods and then deny it. He wanted to cut off her hand, but this was distressing to her people, so they came to Usamah ibn Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him), the beloved of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and the son of his beloved, and asked him to intercede to prevent her hand from being cut off. He spoke to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), and he became very angry with him, even though he loved him, and said: “Do you intercede in a hadd from the hudud of Allah? By Allah, if Fatimah bint Muhammad had stolen, I would have cut off her hand.” This is the meaning of the hadith: if a hadd becomes obligatory upon a person, no one may object to it or prevent its execution. It is also narrated as: “May Allah curse the one who shelters an innovator,” meaning one who innovates in a matter, i.e., one who innovates in a matter. So one should not carry bid'ah (religious innovation), promote it, or defend it.
