Cursing the Age

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
If someone curses another person and says, "O Allah, show us a black day in him," is this considered cursing the age? And what is the criterion for cursing the age?

Answer:
Answer: The criterion for cursing the age is to attribute evil to the age, or to attribute what has befallen you to the age. However, there is no harm in describing the age as having severity or extremity. Allah (Mighty and Majestic) described the wind as being (a violent, roaring wind) and described it with its attributes. The age is described with its actual attributes, provided one does not believe that evil comes from the age or that calamities come from the age. (This is a difficult day). Look at Shu'ayb (peace be upon him); he said, (This is a difficult day), describing it as difficult, meaning severe. This is not a blame of the age, but rather he stated that it is the one that brought the evil. This is merely a description of it. (On a day of continuous misfortune) he described it as misfortune.
