As for his saying, (peace and blessings be upon him): Allah, Mighty and Majestic, said: “My son Adam hurts me by cursing time

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : He said, “As for his saying, (peace and blessings be upon him): Allah, Mighty and Majestic, said — and this is a qudsi hadith —:
The son of Adam displeases Me by abusing Dahr (time) يؤذيني ابن آدم يسب الدهر
Sahih Muslim 2246b
meaning he faults and curses it
whereas I am time. Authority is in my hand. I alternate the night and the day وأنا الدهر بيدي الأمر أقلب الليل والنهار
Sunan Abi Dawud 5274Sahih (Al-Albani)
This does not indicate that time is one of the names of Allah the Exalted. That is because those who curse time intend the time in which events occur, not Allah the Exalted. Thus, the meaning of His saying:
And I am al-Dahr وأنا الدهر
is what He explained by His saying:
Authority is in my hand. I alternate the night and the day بيدي الأمر أقلب الليل والنهار
Sunan Abi Dawud 5274Sahih (Al-Albani)
He, Glorified and Exalted is He, is the Creator of time and what is in it, and He has made clear that He turns the night and the day, which are time. It is not possible for the one who turns (with a kasrah on the lam) to be the one who is turned (with a fathah on the lam). And by this, it becomes clear that it is impossible for time in this hadith to be intended as Allah the Exalted.”
It was also mentioned in the previous lesson that Allah the Exalted said:
The son of Adam displeases Me by abusing Dahr (time) يؤذيني ابن آدم يسب الدهر
Sahih Muslim 2246b
and He did not say “they curse Me.” If He had intended that time is Allah, He would have said: “they curse Me, and I am time.”
