Methods of disciplining the wife and children when they deviate from the right path.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
He asks and says: Regarding the disciplining of the wife and children, what are the best matters and methods for disciplining them if they deviate from the right path?

Answer:
Answer: What came in the Book and the Sunnah. Allah, Mighty and Majestic, said regarding the wife: {And as for those from whom you fear disloyalty, admonish them, leave them alone in their beds, and strike them} [Surat al-Nisa, verse 34]. The striking is the final stage, but it is a striking that is not severe. Likewise, regarding the children, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Order your children to pray at the age of seven, strike them for it at the age of ten, and separate them in their beds.” So the striking that serves the purpose of discipline and refinement is in the interest of the person upon whom it is inflicted, but the striking must not be severe or painful, meaning it must not cause intense pain.
