Does debt prevent Hajj

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Does debt prevent one from performing Hajj?

Answer:
Answer: Yes, if the money you have is not sufficient to pay off the debt and cover the expenses of Hajj, then you do not perform Hajj; rather, you begin by paying off the debt because you are not able to perform Hajj. Allah the Exalted said: (And Allah has imposed upon the people the pilgrimage to the House for whoever is able to find a way thereto). The ability to perform Hajj means that you find provisions and a mount in excess of your own food and the food of your dependents. If what you have is enough to take you to Hajj and back, covering the expenses, then you do not perform Hajj, and Hajj is not obligatory upon you in this case.
